I will begin each entry with a TL;DR (too long, didn't read) to give those with busy schedules a synopsis of the day.
TL;DR, I started a day early, got rained on, but was prepared, saw an old coworker and the base I went to my first tech school at, and hammock camped right outside New Orleans.
I out-processed my base first thing this morning and sat in my dining room with my roomie/best bud. She mentioned that today would be the last time I take off the uniform. That is a real moment that has come and now gone as fast as I removed my pants. I loved my uniform and the reason I put it on everyday, but I have done my time, and now I must move on to post military life.
The only feeling I currently have is excitement about seeing more of the country I chose to serve. I have seen quite a bit and even drove to Alaska for my first assignment, but being on the motorcycle is different. this first picture is about 60 seconds before I rode away into the day.
I hit Alabama before I knew it. I was so excited I forgot to take the shorter route that goes north of Navarre and stuck to 98 into Pensacola. I got so excited about the tunnel in Mobile that I forgot to stop for the USS Alabama. Oh well I will get back to it one day.
This is a great shot of the lighthouse in Biloxi, and how I packed down my bike. Loving the Biltwell exfil 80, however I really need taller bars with a bit more pullback. I saw my old coworker Micheal at Keesler. I was able to catch about 5 minutes with him before the Wednesday staff meeting. Good times.
I rolled into Louisiana a bit wet, but feeling good. That sideways smile is one of relaxation. As I get further away from home it feels more real.
I was able to snag this awesome little pavilion for the night. It is supposed to storm tonight so hopefully I and my gear will be good until the morning. Either way it has been a good day and I can't wait to ride again in the morning.
